Get Help

This is temporary!

During the beta test period, this page will probably change a lot. Below are some temporary help information.

How do I:

Find Scoops

Readers can view all of the Scoops that have been submitted by fellow users at the front page the website. By choosing the category of your liking and then either "Top" or "Latest" news you will receive Scoops that are respectively promoted to the front page or all the latest news that has been submitted. Once a story has been shared enough, depending on the calculations performed by the CoScoop backend, it appears on the front page. If enough users marks the Scoop as inappropriate, it will get a lower rank (or even get deleted). Age is also a determining factor for whether a Scoop gets a high rank or not.

Logged in users can also at any time perform searches in the CoScoop database to find stuff of their liking.

Create and share Scoops

Clicking the "Create Scoop" link will take you to the submission page where you can choose to create either a "Linked Scoop" or an "Original Scoop". Once the Scoop is submitted it will be automatically shared to the users on your buddylist that have the same interest as your created Scoop. The Scoop graph will show "1 Share" and be greyed out indicating that you have shared this Scoop. If you don't have any buddies, the Scoop will still be shared and receive a share count of 1.

Whenever you are browsing the website and comes across an interesting Scoop that you would like to share your buddies, just click the "Share Now!" link on the Scoop graph. The Scoop will be automatically shared to your buddies that have same interest as the Scoop.

Discuss Scoops

When you've found a Scoop you would like to comment on either click on the Scoop title or on the "Discuss" button and it will take you to the Scoop and you will be able to submit your comment. If the discussion becomes popular it will appear under "Active Discussions" on the front page.

Report inappropriate content

In order to help remove bad links, off-topic content, duplicate entries, spam or offensive Scoop submissions, CoScoop offers a "Mark as inappropriate" link under each Scoop. When a Scoop has been reported enough times, it is marked as "Possibly inappropriate" to indicate the users' disapproval of the Scoop. If the Scoop is breaking any of our rules it will be deleted and we will take actions against the user who created the Scoop.
