We, the owners of CoScoop, of course respect your integrity and rights to privacy. However, in order to in the best ways possible provide you with the services of the CoScoop website, the website and its underlying system must collect certain information about its users. This document describes what that information is, and how we treat that information.
About Cookies
The CoScoop website makes use of cookies to provide its users with its services. A cookie is an identifier stored on the user's computer. This identifier is used by the CoScoop website to recognize the computer used to access the website, in order to provide you with the services of CoScoop in the best ways possible.
A cookie can not identify you personally, only the web browser used when visiting the website. A cookie does not contain viruses, nor can it destroy information on your computer.
You can, and have the right to, at any time make your web browser stop accepting cookies from CoScoop. If you do that, however, you will unfortunately not be able to use the services of CoScoop.
User Information
There are two types of information that we collect about you when you use CoScoop. The first type is the kind of information you voluntarily provide at registration, and other information you may enter about yourself anywhere on the website. Information we require at registration are a username, a password and an e-mail address. The password and e-mail address will always be hidden from other users of CoScoop by default. You can, however, if you wish make you e-mail address visible to other users. Once registered, you may if you wish enter your real name, birthday, country of residence, website address, instant messaging username, as well as a personal presentation. If you provide this information, it will always be shown to other CoScoop users when they visit your profile. You can at any time choose to remove or change this information.
The other type of information is that which is automatically collected when you use the website. The purpose of this information is either to make sure that the website continues to work as intended, or to make the services provided through the website possible. In your profile, other users will be able to see some of this information, such as which articles ("scoops") you share, comment on and create on the website, which other users ("buddies") you share content with, and which news categories and tags that you are most active within.
How We Treat Your Information
We, the owners of CoScoop, will never give a third party access to your personal information, except when we believe that it is necessary in order to not violate any laws.
We may use your personal information in order to create statistics and information for the purpose of making CoScoop and its services continue working as intended and/or improve them, and for marketing purposes. However, we will never do this in a way that will make it possible for third parties to identify you through that information.
We always respect your rights to privacy and integrity. We of course follow laws that protect your integrity.
